Saturday, January 23, 1988: Mary Losing Interest
Today I worked from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. I walked home and stopped off at Brenda and Reese's. I hung out with them and eventually walked up to "By the Way Cafe" with Brengun. Reese went to work.
Tonight I went to Mark's for practice. It went pretty well. Afterwards I took my Stick home and then went to Steve and Wendi's. Mary has been acting oddly the last few days. Maybe she's losing interest in me. Tonight we sleep in Shanna's room because she isn't home.
Wednesday, January 20, 1988: Time with Mary
Last night I wrote a note on the chalk board in the kitchen voicing my displeasure at how I was never consulted about the new room mate. Then I went off to practice. After practice I went to Steve and Wendi's and spent the night with Mary.
I managed to get into work by 8:30 am today. I worked from then until 4:00 pm then I worked from 4:30 pm until 7:30 pm. I met Mary at Union Station at around 8:00 pm and went to see a movie. Afterwards we came back to Steve and Wendi's.
Tuesday, January 19, 1988: The Ringing Bell Day
I was up at 6:30 am today. I got into work at 8:00 am and the bloody phone office phone was ringing. When the switch-board is off the main number rings right through the whole place. Usually you just dial "114" and it answers it. This morning that didn't work. Nothing worked. Eventually Jude dismantled all the Bell units because it was driving us crazy. The people downstairs phoned Bell Canada and they disconnected it at 9:45 am or so. It was a nightmare.
Today was uneventful. I did some errands and drank tea. At lunch I went to Trotters. This afternoon was a repeat of this morning only without the ringing. Lots of new greenhorns started. After work Moriarty and I played video games and after I went up to Long & McQuade to buy that Yamaha RX17 drum machine for Mark. I got in around 6:00 and Christine was there. I ignored her. I can't deal with her or The Badger. Alison hasn't been around a lot so I don't know where she stands.
Monday, January 18, 1988: The Un-Coop House
My clock was set an hour fast so I got up earlier than needed today. I ended up walking to work. It was warm out again. I got in at 8:20 am and was the first one in. Moriarty got in at 8:30 and Jude didn't show up until 9:00 am. It was a good morning. I ran some errands. At lunch I went to the Porker's Stern.
This afternoon I had errands to run so I wasn't in much. At 4:00 pm Moriarty and I played video games then I worked from 4:30 until 7:30 pm. Moriarty didn't as he's studying for his CSC.
I went over to Steve and Wendi's after work and saw Mary. She bought me a record. I almost stayed the night but I went home. I came home to find some chick moving in to replace Christine who's going to Australia. No one consulted me on this. The Badger was cackling in the kitchen like a crazy old lady. I went to my room.
Sunday, January 17, 1988: Stella's Birthday
Wisehammer had our first practice in a month last night. It actually went amazingly. I was suprised. Afterwards we went to Vic & Albert's Pub and hung out. At about 12:30 pm I headed back to Steve and Wendi's. Stella, Sarah and Shanna were also there. Mary and I slept out on the futon fold out thing in the living room.
I was up at 10:30 am when Steve got up. We had breakfast at this restaurant over on Bloor by High Park called "Yo Yo's". Stella's Birthday was today so it was sort of in celebration of that.
Afterwards Mary and I walked around High Park. It was unusually warm today with a high of +10 C and it was dull and rainy. Very Vancouver-like. I hung out at Steve and Wendi's all day and night. We had a cake for Stella and food.
At 11:30 pm I left I took the tube with Sarah (Stella's Sister). She's got her CSC and is now doing her course for options. When I got in Peter was spooning with Darlene on the couch.
This whole thing with Mary is sort of overwhelming.
Saturday, January 16, 1988: Day with Mary
I woke up with the intention of going into work but Mary was there. We stayed in bed until noon. Later We went back over to Steve and Wendi's. Stella and her sister Sarah were there. I only hung out until 6:30 pm then I went back to 880 to get my gear.
Friday, January 15, 1988: Mary
Later last night I went over to Steve and Wendi's. Mary, Wendi's friend from Newfoundland arrived tonight. ( Wendi has been match-making?) Mary is thin (great legs) has long dark hair, deep dark green eyes. She's 27 although I thought she was younger. We hit it off pretty well. (massage)
Shannah and Stella were also there. Eventually everyone went to bed just leaving Mary and I up. I stayed the night. We made love. From 1:00 am until 5:00 am. It happened so quick though. This could get complicated.
Today was strange. I got up at 10:30 am with Mary. Wendi and her went down town to shop. I went in to work to get my pay cheque. At lunch I gave McFad $100 for the deposit on the reheasal space. I went to Doctor Bill's after that.
I got home around 2:30 pm and slept until 5:00 pm. I called Mary when I was up. We were going to go out but we were both too tired so I just went over there. We watched "Down By Law" on video. Eventually I was burned out so Mary and I came back to my place. She's staying here tonight.
Thursday, January 14, 1988: Out With Chuck
I got up at 7:00 am ish and was in by 8:15 am. It was REALLY cold out today. Still I love this weather. They sent me on lots of errands at 11:30 am. I did half of them then went for lunch at Trotters. I talked to the waiteress who's name is Arelene.
Anways after lunch I went to CSG and finished my errands. I got back at around 2:00 pm and they sent me out again at 2:30 pm. I worked until 4:00 pm
Tonight Chuck MaGee phoned and we went to see a movie. We saw "Throw Mama From the Train" which was pretty funny.
Wednesday, January 13, 1988: Out With Kevin
I was up early and in work by 8:30 am. It was another extremely cold day. I got to go on lots of errands which was good. At lunch I went to Horby's for soup. I went back to work and talked to Kathryn from mutual funds.
Tonight I went with McFad to see this rehearsal space. It was okay. I don't know though. I get mixed feelings about it. I don't know if I totally trust the owners.
Afterwards I went to Kevin Cooke's to hang out. We had coffee and talked. Eventually we went over to Lee's Palace to see this band. Kevin knew the Sax player. They had a Chapman Stick player. He wasn't that good though. Kevin and I tried to talk to him afterwards but he was a total goof. He was a Humber College snob type. He talked to Kevin like Kevin was nobody and I know that Kevin can play rings around him.
Tuesday, January 12, 1988: Package From Maralyn
I woke up at 6:30 am or so today. I didn't sleep well last night. Lots of dreams. I was up and in for work by 8:10 am. It was nice and quiet. Jude got in at 8:30 am. At lunch I went to Trotters. I talked to one of the staff named Sue.
This afternoon was dull. I went on errands. This afternoon McFad told me about this rehearsal space that his band 3 Blue Eyes is looking at. We might co-rent it with them. Tomorrow night after work he and I will go and check it out.
I went home at 4:00 pm and picked up some mystery package from the post office. It turned out to be a present from Maralyn. Quite a surprise. Inside was a nice sweater and a card. The card said how they missed me etc. It was strange. i figured most of my family hadn't even noticed I'd left. Maybe they've finally figured out I'm not coming back.
Tonight I wen to the laundry mat and did my wash. I also read a letter than I got from that girl Carrie who I met going up to Cambridge. I got home at 9:30 pm.
Monday, January 11, 1988: Recording with Andrew
I was up at 6:45 am today. I ate and headed off to work. I got in to the office at 8:15 am. Moriarty got in around 8:45 am. Jude showed up at around 9:00 am. The moring was okay. At lunch I went to Trotters. I had some pizza and watched music videos. I saw the video for Peter Gabriel's "Don't Give Up". Kate Bush is in it. She's amazing.
This afternoon I went on errands. It wasn't too cold out. At 4:00 pm Moriarty, McFad and I played video games. Moriarty didn't work tonight but McFad and I did. Some greenhorns started today. A couple of guys and this friend of Wendy Vroom's named Shauna or Shelia or something. She seems nice enough. I worked from 4:30 pm until 7:30. I was going to go until 8:00 pm but I spoke to Smith and we decided to get together and do some recording.
I also talked to Corina in Hamilton. She seems to be doing well. She's coming to the City at the end of the month so hopefully I'll see her then. I don't know why she's suddenly taken up an interest in writing and calling me.
Anyways I was home by 8:00 pm and Andrew came over. We worked on a song of his called "Keeping Score" until about 10:00 pm when The Badger and Christine got home. That kind of ruined the mood and we called it a night. We went to Ralf's for panzerotti's and beer. He went home at 11:00 and I came home.
Sunday, January 10, 1988: Quiet Sunday
I slept in until noon. There was no hot water this morning. I had soup and tea and watched TV. Nobody was around. Peter came home and we had toast then he went somewhere. Mark came over and picked up a copy of a dub I've done. It's 7/8 with rough vocals on it. It's called "The Towers that Fell".
This afternoon Alison came back. She's been at her sisters. I was supposed to get together with Andrea but that never happened. I went to By The Way Cafe for food. Brenda was working. I played video games for a bit then came home to listen to The Badger complaining about how her and her sister don't get along.
Saturday, January 9, 1988: Seeing Everyone
Maria stayed over last night. I was going to go into work today but of course I didn't. I never do when Maria stays over. I got up at around 10:30 am and had tea. Eventually Maria got up. Maria and I went over to Tasties' for breakfast. She headed home after.
Eventually I went down to Kevin Cooke's to record some vocals on "Blank it Out". We worked on it until 4:00 pm or so. After that I went to Gina's. She goes to BC on Monday so we wanted to get together before. I met her at the laundry mat near her place then when everything was dry we went back to her place. We had tea and food and talked. David got in and the three of us went to this restaurant called "George's". We hung out there until 8:30 pm or so.
I was supposed to meet Mark and Chris at The Victoria and Albert Pub at 9:30 so I took the Tube up there. I got there early and talked to Rani. Eventually Mark and Chris showed up. They gave me a belated Birthday Card and some Chapman Stick strings. Rani talked to us for a bit. She was on cash so she didn't have a lot of chance to. We left at 12:30 and I took the bus down Bathurst. I got home around 1:00 am.
Friday, January 8, 1988: Maria Returns
I got into work at around 8:30 am. It was a difficult morning. I got to go on some errands though. Moriarty and I had to go pick up some packages from AGF. It snowed more today. I love this weather.
I only worked until noon. We got our pay cheques at noon. Fortunately we got our bonuses today. I scored huge on mine. We only were paid for Christmas and New Years so without the bonuses it would have been bad. Actually most everyone else was in bad shape but with my bonus I survived nicely.
At lunch I went to Trottes to eat then I headed home. I slept from 1:30 pm until 5:30 pm. Maria got back from Sweden so she called. She came over at 8:30 pm or so.
Thursday, January 7, 1988: Snowy Errands
I woke up at 7:00 am. Last night I went to sleep at around 10:30 pm. I was in to work by 8:30 am and had a tea and a muffin. Jude got in eventually and Uncle D came in around 9:00 am. Tony sent me on some errands. I had to go to AGF, then to the Lawyers, then to Lloyds Bank, then up to CSG at Dundas and University. On my way back it began to snow. I got back in and it was 11:50 am or so.
I headed out to Trotters for lunch and it was a full storm. Blankets of snow coming down! It was amazing. I had pizza and talked to the waiteress who's name I forget. Nobody was in thank to the weather.
this afternoon was dull. I got sent out again to First Canadian Place, into the labyrinth beneath the concourse to Central Trust. I also had to go to TD. At 4:00 pm Moriarty, McFad and I went over and played video games. I worked from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
I took the Tube home with Jill who's back from Newfoundland. Chuck MaGee phoned me tonight. I may get together with him and John Bowman next week.
Wednesday, January 6, 1988: Long Day
I got up at 6:45 am or so. It wasn't as windy as yesterday so I didn't mind the cold as much. I left for work at 7:50 and got there at 8:20. Moriarty was in by 8:45 am or so. Jude was in at around 9:00 am. Uncle D was sick so he didn't come in today.
I went on lots of errands today. That was okay. It was sunny and crisp out. I worked until 7:30 pm tonight. That is all I could take. McFad and Caroline worked too although Moriarty didn't.
After work I just went home and had a hot bath. Too burned out to do anything. I talked to Andrea briefly on the phone. We may go out this weekend.
Tuesday, January 5, 1988: Dinner With Victoria
I went to sleep at around 8:30 pm last night and slept until 7:30 am today. I rushed to work and got in for 8:30. I was first in of course. Arthur got in at around 9:00 am as did Uncle D. Moriarty and McFad didn't get in until 10:00 am or so. It was freezing out today so I didn't get to go on any errands.
At lunch I got some soup and also picked up a coffee and smokes for Kathryn the Mutual Fund Lady. She reminds me alot of my sister Maralyn. This afternoon was very dull. I worked until 4:00 pm and then Moriarty and I went and played some video games. I worked from 4:30 pm until 7:00 pm and could take no more.
I talked to Phil Ogison on the phone. I think he's going to have his jam space/afterhours club set up by spring so I may get us a gig there to appease Mark and Chris. I also talked to Pam.
After work I took the tube to Victoria's and visited her. I had dinner with her, her Mother, and her brother Chris. Some other lady named Lisa showed up. Victoria also had the flu or something. I don't think she's sure about me.
I hung out there until 11:30 pm. Vic's Mom was driving Lisa home so she drove me along and dropped me off as well.
Monday, January 4, 1988: First Day Back At Work
I woke up at 7:00 am and managed to get up and out by 8:00 am. I made it into work by 8:30 am. No one else was in of course. Moriarty got in at 9:00 am as did Uncle Dougie. Jude won't be back until Wednesday. It was a slack day. I went on a few runs for Uncle D and Tony M. Eventually Mcfad got in.
At lunch I went to Trotters and had some pizza. This afternoon I was so tired I kept falling asleep. I had all I could take by 4:00 pm. I hopped the tube home and the whole crowd was there. I hid in my room. Eventually they all left and I came out. Peter made supper and I had some.
Sunday, January 3, 1988: Evening with Victoria
I slept in today even though I promised myself I'd be up early. Mark dropped by after taking his Mother to Mass and picked up my amp. He told me that he and Chris didn't rehearse last night because Chris hurt his left wrist while skiing. So it looks like no practice until next Saturday.
Today I got to go over to Lindsey's parents for dinner. I headed up to CFB Downsview at around 3:30 pm. Lindsay was already there when I arrived. Andrea was there. Anywasy the Browns are nice folk (except for Greg) especially Mrs. Brown, she's very nice. Lindsey and I ate then eventually went over to the Chiassons'. Pat was there. Chris was also there with his swollen wrist.
After that we headed out, Lindsey went back to his place and I took the Bus down Bathurst. I almost stopped off at St. Clair to see Victoria but didn't. I went home and called her instead. She wasn't too talkative so I asked if she didn't want me to call and she got upset and said she just felt crowded by people then asked if she could come down to visit. I agreed.
We listened to music and talked a bit in my new room. She acted all quiet and distant. Eventually we got more intimate and ended up making love. It was strange in it was so unexpected.
At 10:30 pm or so we left my pace and I took the bus with her and walked her home. She insisted that I come in so I did. Her Mother was sitting in the living room with her Brother Chris who was playing games on their computer.
Victoira talked to me and delayed me each time I tried to leave. Eventually at 12:00 midnight I left. She acted bizarre all night. What a strange girl.
Saturday, January 2, 1988: Hanging out with Lindsay
I slept in today although it seemed like everyone I know phoned me starting from 9:00 am until noon when I finally got up. Lindsay came over this afternoon. He's living over by Spadina now.
I didn't go to practice tonight. Mark seemed sour about that but I don't care. They can play Rush and Max Wester covers.
Friday, January 1, 1988: New Years 2008
Wishing you a Merry Christmas! And a happy Birthday too! Love Gina. /87.
P.S. This book is for being 'sensitive' and/or 'artistic'. Hey... Do both... but not around me! xo
Last night I stayed over at Wendi and Steve's. I watched Videos after they'd gone to bed and listened to Ry Cooder's sound track to the movie "Paris, Texas". I was probably up until 4:00 am or so.
I got up today at around 1:00 pm in the afternoon. I slept in the "guest room" which will eventually be the baby's room. It was nice to wake up to a hot bath and friendly smiles instead of the feeling of being a second class citizen who doesn't belong and isn't welcome. I hate living at 880 right now. It's crowded and The Badger is being usual self.
Anyways we had some toast and sat around. Eventually Steve and I went to rent Videos. It was amazing out. Light, cold and crisp. Steve's from Victoria BC originally so we talked about British Columbia. I've been home sick for the west lately. I'd like to go out in the spring. I especially miss Anne. Anyways we we went down to a couple of places near by to rent them only to find both places were closed. Steve and I took a street car down towards Pacific Ave where they used to live and found a place there that was open.
We rented a couple of films. "Bad Boys" which had Senn Penn and the movie version of Frank Herbert's "Dune". Dune was amazing. It seemed sped up because so much of the book was cut out. "Bad Boys" I'd seen a before. The female lead in it reminds me of Lindsay Brown's sister Andrea.
We had tea, pizza etc and around 12:00 I left and headed home. The Badger, her sister, Julia and Christine were in the living room when I came in. The Badger was talking her usual "men are inferior" rhetoric. Dull, dull, dull...
I had tea. Alison M and her American boyfriend came in and I talked to him. He's a nice guy. The Badger of course hates him because not only is he a man, he's an American one at that!
No messages from Mark or Chris. I don't want to practice on Saturday or Tuesday since I still consider myself on holidays. They want to play soon. Mark Especially. We're not ready yet though and I'm not ready but they're in a hurry. Now they want to bring in some keyboard player to bounce ideas off of. Anyways it doesn't look good for Wisehammer.
